Collaborations

We love working with different units and organisations, and do so frequently. We also partner regularly with other units in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, including, as well as Adult Oncology.

Our local collaborations include work with colleagues from the University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of the Free State, Walter Sisulu University, Sefako Makgatho University and the University of Limpopo.

International collaborations include those with colleagues from St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Baylor University (Texas Children’s Hospital), University of Toronto (Sick Kids), University College London (Great Ormond Street Hospital), Mohamed V University of Rabat, and University of Ghana. We work closely with the International Paediatric Oncology Society (SIOP) on the Global Mapping Programme, which is currently mapping global paediatric oncology services.

We work closely with non-profit organisations such as Rainbows and Smiles, Cupcakes of Hope for Children with Cancer, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation and CANSA to further our common aims.

Prof Geel is head of the Wits Paediatric Fund and many of our educational activities happen though the Fund.
